New Student Admissions Process

Registration in the lower school follows the guidelines below:

  1. To enter the Pre-kindergarten-3-year-old class, a child must be 3 years of age by September 1st, as verified by birth or baptismal certificate.
  2. To enter Pre-kindergarten-4-year-old class, a child must be 4 years of age by September 1st, as verified by birth or baptismal certificate.
  3. To enter Kindergarten, a child must be five years of age by September 1st, as verified by birth or baptismal certificate.
  4. To enter first grade, a child must be six years old by September 1st, as verified by birth or baptismal certificate.
  5. Interested parties should contact the admissions office at 410-238-1163 regarding student admission.  Registration forms may be downloaded from our web site or obtained from the admissions office.  In addition to the registration forms, parents should present birth and baptismal certificates, Social Security number, immunization records, custodial records, and general health reports for students entering the school.  The Baltimore County Health Department determines required immunizations.  Mt. Carmel follows these requirements. Each child entering Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School must have a current physical form completed. These forms are due by July 30th. Families interested in enrolling children in the Extended Care Program must submit the required forms.
  6. Transfer students will be tested in reading, math, and language arts to help determine proper placement and grouping.  Academic, behavior and testing records will be reviewed prior to admission for all prospective students.  If test results or records show that the school programs may not meet the needs of the child, parents will be informed.
  7. Transfer students whose academic, behavior or testing records and results indicate potential difficulties at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel may be accepted on a probationary basis at the discretion of the principal.
  8. Since cooperation between the school and parents is vital, no registration will be considered final until a parent signature of agreement regarding the school philosophy and information compiled in the parent handbook is on file in the school office.
