Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Introduces Tablet Program
02/10/12

We are pleased to announce the launch of a pilot program in our Science Department which utilizes Droid tablets as a tool for instruction.  Due to a partnership with Verizon Wireless we have been able to upgrade our infrastructure to improve signal strength, purchase a classroom set of Droid tablets, and train our science teachers to use them.  Classes will use these new tools to support instruction and infuse the internet, video, and excellent applications into our foundational curriculum.  Fifth graders will be the first class to test the new Droids followed quickly by middle school, high school, and additional lower school classes.  We are very excited about this program—as is Verizon and the Archdiocese of Baltimore—and our hope is to expand these tools next year with the purchase of additional hardware and the accompanying data packages.  Be on the lookout for information about our program in the local press and via Verizon!  This program is an example of our effort to improve our children’s learning environment by including technological advances in educationally appropriate ways.  It is very exciting!
