Showing Concern for Others Earns 1st Graders Pajama Day
12/19/11

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Lower School students are taught and adhere to a “Values Code” which teaches them honesty, respect, responsibility, self-control, hard work, self-respect, concern for others, tolerance, cooperation, fairness, forgiveness, courage and self-knowledge. Students recite the Values Code each morning together and are rewarded for behaving according to the Values Code.

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School students in grades K-12 exhibit concern for others in the collection of gifts for its Adopt-A-Family Program. Students are encouraged to bring in wrapped gifts for a selected family.

Recently, 1st grade students in Mrs. Medvigy’s class were rewarded with a “Pajama Day” for their work to follow the Values Code.  Mrs. Medvigy’s class also collected over 50 gifts for their “Adopted Family”. The 1st graders’ participation in this outreach program demonstrates that they have great concern for others.
