Msgr. Robert L. Hartnett

The Pastor is assigned to the parish by the Archbishop (William Cardinal Keeler). He is responsible for the overall spiritual care of the parish community, including the administration of the sacraments, counseling assistance to persons in spiritual need, instruction in the gospel and Church teaching. He sees to provisions for adequate facilities for the liturgical, educational and social aspects of the parish life and to their financial support.

It is his responsibility to maintain sufficient staff and volunteers to accomplish parish objectives and programs. He accomplishes this with the support of the Pastoral Council. The priorities of parish obligations, needs and long-range goals are determined by the Pastor with the cooperation of his fellow clergy, staff, council and parishioners.

The Associate Pastor is also assigned to the parish by the Archbishop. He is responsible for working with the pastor to achieve the pastor's vision and direction for the spiritual care of the parish community through the administration of the sacraments, as well as assist in the care of administrative matters.


Deacon Charles Baynes

The Pastoral Associate is a member of the staff whose duties are outlined with the pastor. In the case at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, the Pastoral Associate is also a Permanent Deacon who is ordained to the clerical state and assigned to the parish by the Archbishop. The Permanent Deacon assists as an ordinary minister of the Eucharist, and is given authority to proclaim the Gospel and charged to preach. He may baptize, officiate at marriages, and celebrate the Rite of Christian burial. The Deacon also visits the sick, and assists the priests in other areas as needed.

The Director of Religious Education has the responsibility of catechetical and faith formation for the parishioners. She works with the priests in promoting and organizing opportunities to teach the parish members, whether as children or adults, the essentials of the Catholic Faith.


Martin Coffman
Director of Music Ministry

The Director of Music Ministry has the responsibility of coordinating with the pastoral staff the various musical programs for the parish liturgies. She assists in forming, organizing and directing the choir, playing the organ and other instruments, as well as providing materials and teaching the congregation appropriate music in order to enhance the parish worship.

The principals for the Elementary and High School work as members of the parish’s pastoral staff in order to bridge the activities of the Church and schools. These principals promote the spirit and tradition of Catholic School Education not just to the students, but to all in the school and parish communities.


Melissa Lawrence
Director of Youth Ministry

The Director of Youth Ministry is responsible for spiritual, educational, emotional and social programs for elementary and high school parishioners. They are the liaison between the youth of the parish and the pastoral staff. Their task is to bring the Church's teaching and Gospel values to the parish's younger members.


Karen Weber
Administrative Assistant

The administrative assistant is part of the professional and pastoral staff. She works to assist the pastor in administrative matters in the programs that involve the parish and the schools.
