Signature Programs

At Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we believe every child’s learning journey is unique. Our K–5 program nurtures curiosity, builds strong foundational skills, and celebrates student growth — both academically and spiritually. With engaging instruction, a caring environment, and programs that balance faith, academics, and character development, students are inspired to become confident and compassionate learners.

Faith-Based, Rigorous Curriculum

We follow the Archdiocese of Baltimore Curriculum for PreK–5, ensuring a faith-centered, high-quality education

  • K–2: Saxon Phonics strengthens early literacy.
  • 3–5: Scholastic StoryWorks develops critical thinking and creative expression.
  • Cursive Writing: Introduced in grade 3 to build fine motor skills and pride in written work.
  • Planners: Every student receives a planner to track assignments, develop organization skills, and learn responsibility from an early age.
Social-Emotional Learning

Every class participates in the Friendzy Program, which teaches empathy, healthy friendships, and conflict resolution — all rooted in Gospel values.

Tools for Academic Growth
  • MAP Testing: Tracks student growth and helps teachers differentiate lessons.
  • IXL: Interactive online practice strengthens math and language skills in and out of the classroom.
  • Summer Work Program: Ensures students maintain skills and stay ready for the next grade level.
The OLMC House System

Our House System is a cornerstone of K–5 life at OLMC. Part of our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program, it fosters community, leadership, and school spirit

  • Students are placed into one of four Houses: St. Francis, St. Elizabeth, St. Simon, or St. Teresa.
  • Houses represent virtues and leadership qualities that guide students in daily life.
  • Students earn points for positive behavior, academic effort, and acts of kindness.
  • Cougar Paychecks: Students receive daily rewards to use in the school store.
  • Saint of the Month: Individual students are recognized for outstanding effort and character.

Our House System has earned state recognition from Maryland PBIS, with awards like Data on My Mind, Power of Teaching, and Our Classroom, Our Community.

Why Our House System Matters

  • Builds belonging and teamwork across all grades.
  • Encourages leadership and responsibility in daily activities.
  • Reinforces faith, character, and academic excellence.

At OLMC, students don’t just learn—they lead, serve, and grow together. Every child has a place to belong, a voice to be heard, and a House to call home
