Three Alumni Inducted Into Athletic Hall of Fame

On Friday, March 18, Our Lady of Mount Carmel inducted three new members into the Athletic Hall of Fame.

Brandon Baylor '07 was a four year starter on the Cougars Men's Varsity Basketball team. Former coach Tom Rose, current head coach of Goucher College's men's team, thanked Brandon for choosing Mount Carmel when it wasn't the popular decision. During Brandon's years at Mount Carmel, the team reached the MIAA playoffs all four of his years, and moved from the C conference to the B conference. His 1,120 career points and appearance in three MIAA championships games led Brandon to be recruited to play Division I college basketball at Delaware State. He finished his college career at Division II Cheyney University in Pennsylvania.

Jessica Celmer '07 spent her high school career at Mount Carmel playing soccer and lacrosse. Athletic Director Mike Naunton pointed to how well-rounded a student Jess was at Mount Carmel, serving as the President of the National Honor Society, participating in various activities such as chorus, and earning the position of class valedictorian. Jess was a leader on the field as well, serving as captain of both the soccer and lacrosse teams, and winning the C. Markland Kelly Award and the Gus Smith Award. Jess played college soccer at Villa Julie College, and is now serving as the Public Programs Coordinator at the Baltimore Museum of Industry.

Rummell King '08 was also a four year starter on the Men's Varsity Basketball team. Coach Rose described Rummell as the ultimate team player who served as the glue of the team and made sacrifices to make other players look good. Rummell's sacrifices for the team lead to three MIAA championships during his four years. He played college basketball at Lamar Community College in Colorado. During his acceptance speech, Rummell reminded current students, "It's not about you. It's about helping others and your whole community."
